The national not-for profit Council was founded in late 2020 and began formally operating in January 2021. Leadership and day to day management is the responsibility of the President/Registar.
The Construction and Design Educators Council of Canada is dedicated to becoming the indispensable leader in engaging practicing educators, mentors and facilitators of construction and design sector professional development and workforce development. We will support the needs of practitioners, advocate for their employ and ensure quality and satisfaction of service to CDECC affiliate organizations, or other organizations engaged in the construction and design sectors in Canada.
Our Values Statement, and code of practice for CDECC practitioners and affiliates is a key cornerstone of our organization
The Construction and Design Educators Council of Canada will position Canada as a global leader in assembling and supporting practicing educators who provide exceptional knowledge and skill to learners committed to life long professional development and workforce development in the construction and design sectors.
The Industry Engagement Committee meets virtually 2 times per year and is responsible to engage construction, home building and design associations at the local, provincial and national level. This allows CDECC to remain connected to current legislation, regulations and more.
The Professional Practice Support Committee meets ad-hoc as required to assist practitioners in resolving challenges they may encounter in the delivery of their services or the business of education and facilitation across Canada in the construction and design sectors.
The Institutional and Government Engagement Committee meets virtually 2 times per year and is responsible to engage academia and governments locally, provincially and nationally.
Our Leadership Advisory Committee (LAC) assists CDECC in strategic and governing compliance requirements to operate in each province and to ensure regulatory requirements are met.
CDECC publishes policy statements after thoroughly vetting through committee. We remain committed to being agile and active in developing our policy statements. Policy statements guide the educator and assist them in making decisions when teaching, facilitating or developing curriculum or content.
